ROLL CALL
Mayor Manuel called the meeting to order at 8:13 p.m. All members of Council were present. All
members of staff were present.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS AUTOMATION
Discussion took place concerning Vice Mayor Aubrey's request that Council consider the use of
notebook computers, and that staff evaluate the pros and cons of applying technology to the
distribution of Council documents.
Mr. Knight reported on the use of computers for CounciUCommission meetings in area municipalities
and advised that several municipalities have moved to the use of iPads as the technology platform of
choice, due to its size and ease of use.
Information Technology Director Michael Applegate demonstrated how an iPad could be used to
retrieve and view Council agenda backup documents, along with other features, including the ability to
access the Village's Code of Ordinances and Budget.
Mr. Knight discussed security and public records issues. Mr. Knight reviewed the cost to implement
this technology and discussed the merits of WiFi or 3G/WiFi with aircards.
Council consensus was to move forward with the purchase of iPads with 3G/WiFi capability. The
iPads will be assigned to Council, Village Manager, Village Attorney, and Village Clerk.

With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
